Musicians for Charity, Inc. was incorporated as a non-profit 501 c(3) corporation by the State Corporation Commission of the Commonweatlh of Virginia on April 2, 2009. The organization's website -- MusiciansforCharity.org -- provides an opportunity for musicians to offer their services at no cost, excluding expenses, to qualified nonprofits and charities. The initiative was started by volunteers within the music recording industry, musical entertainers, and leaders of national nonprofits and local charities.
Musicians for Charity, Inc. derives all of its income from public contributions and grants. All donations to Musicians for Charity, Inc. are considered charitable, tax-exempt contributions. Donations are used to support the general operations of the organization, including administration, maintenance of the website, legal services, communications with registered members and public promotion. The officers, board and staff are unpaid volunteers and do not collect a salary or any compensation from the organization.
